NARRATIVE:
RALEIGH, NC – A fatality has been reported in connection to a major accident that happened Thursday on the northwest side of Raleigh.
The crash occurred some time before 4 p.m. on the westbound side of I-540 at Leesville Road, near Harris Teeter in the Wynnebrook area.
Police haven’t yet specified the number of vehicles involved, the cause of the collision, or the manner in which the vehicles impacted.
At least one person sustained fatal injuries. No names have been released to the public at this time.
Officials closed the westbound side of I-540 in the area of the crash while emergency teams worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
